I have a 2002 Explorer V-8 and automatic. I have intermitent problem shifting into park. There appears to be a relathionship to pressure on the brake pedal. Any ideas on the cause?

Welcome to the forum!
Does it not want to shift into park if you don't have your foot firmly on the pedal, or what relation to pressure on the pedal are you experiencing?
Seems that holding your foot on the brake pedal when shifting to park would be a reasonable thing, you don't want to damage the parking prawls in the transmission....

Thanks,
I agree you need to hold the brake to shift to park. When shifting to park it can stick. It seems if you vary the pressure on the pedal, it allows the shift operation to happen easier.
