I need help Headlight prob

Was wondering if anyone has any clue what is up with my jetta. I am having problems with my headlights not turning on sometimes. This started about 2 weeks ago. They will turn off or not turn on at all when i start the car and the highbeam light on the dash comes on, but no lights...... :( Before they started doing this i had installed new headlight bulbs, although this was almost 6 months ago and no problem till now. I also have a stereo system in it, which has been installed for over a year now, again no problem till now. I unplugged it thinking that it might be the culprit but my car is still acting up. :confused: Am open to any ideas please let me know if ya can help me out. thanx :help:

There have been problems with the headlight switches. The dealer sells them for about $56. (Prices may very). To remove the switch push in on the knob and then rotate it 1/4 turn to the right. The knob will lock in and the switch can then be pulled out. If the car is still under 24.000 miles you should get the switch for free if it is still under warrienty.

Have another question before i go and buy a new switch cause my car is not under 24k miles. Would that have any effect on just my headlights, cause my tail lights and front blinkers still work its just the headlights that dont turn on? In daytime running or night driving.
