We have a 99 malibu with a v6 and about 40,000 miles on the motor. it ran fine last winter but dies while driving or setting at a stop sign when its hot outside, starts after a few minutes. a mech ran a test and thought it was the map sensor, i replaced it at $70 bucks and did not help. ive read 20 pages on here till i got a headache so i just posted. i also changed out the fuel pump relays but did not help.
a guy said his did the same thing and was the oil sending unit but im thinking its the fuel pressure regulator which will cost $52. or maybe the coil pack? please help, thanks.

Welcome to AF, all guess work. When it won't start check for spark and fuel pressure as the basic first diagnostic steps, You could also try disconnecting the egr for test purposes and for general maintence cleaning the iac and throttle body.

Check for any leaks on the vacum hoses, also it might be the idle control sensor.
