Had a pretty good weekend, which is surprising. For the past few weeks I have tried everything to get some races, and nothing, nada, zilch. I can't even get the ricer Civics to race me, and I was starting to get miffed off. I mean, hooray for blasts down an open freeway, but really, continuly whuping my best friend's now stock IS300 and running doors with another friends 2008 STI is just getting old.

And then a good weekend steps in.

Started Thursday, on my way to the girl's house, which happens to be very near what used to be the hot spot. Seems though that after eight or nine people get arrested in one night and about fifteen cars get towed, its not the hot spot anymore. At this point, I'm not expecting any races period because I pulled the BPV and destickered the car. However, crusing just off my flank is a black IS350, sounds like an exhaust and maybe intake. After sitting there for near a half mile, he takes off, flies by, and then hits the brakes to drop next to me. Hooray. He waves, and rolls down his window and shouts I have a clean ride. And I do, because I just washed it.

I said thanks, and he asked if I wanted to go from about a forty punch. Of course I'm down for that. We turn off to a wider, nicer road, and line up at forty. He honks us down the first time, and I had my nose at about the rear edge of his door on the third honk. In third gear, I punch it, and keep it right there up to about sixty five when I shift to fourth. Loose about an inch, but then hold him there till about 80 when he starts to pull on me. Keeps on a smooth pull, shift to fifth at around a buck and let off with him about a length and a half-two lengths up. We pull up to a light, and he asks if I wanna go from a dig. I respond with something along the lines of fuck that shit, but lets just roll to across the intersection then punch it. Light goes green, I hit the other side of the intersection door to door when I punch it in second. Bad idea. Spin all of second and chirp into third, spinning just till about 40. However, he doesn't pull yet, and we are neck and neck till again around 80, when he starts pulling on me. Kept on it through fourth, and put a hold on his pull at 100. From around a buck to a buck fifteen he only puts about a quarter of a length on me, and we shut down at 120 with him two and half lengths up, give or take. Thumbs up, and he peels off to head back to where ever he was going, and I head off to the girl's place.

Next race was Friday morning (took the day off from work), on my way back from getting the new kicks put on (stock Mazdaspeed6 wheels, they look real good on the Speed3, better than the dork ass wheels at least). After an awesome morning of spotting a new Challanger doing speed runs down the road by my house, a turbo'd Z06 taking off after him, and a holy fucking shit a Cosworth just cruising around, I spotted a clean, 2008.5 Mazdaspeed3. Crystal white, sitting on some Enkei EVO5s. Yum. We waved at each other, said we had nice rides, the usual. He said he was stock except for a SSQV (which he wasn't), and I told him that I had downpipe back, intake, fuel pump, and running like shit (which I am). We decided to go from a sixty punch just to see what would happen.

I honk us down from sixty, sitting in fourth. From sixty to seventy fiveish, we ran doors, and I finally started pulling. Real slow, steady pull from seventy five out to a length by a hundred, stopped pulling then, held that length out to 110 when I shut down. Pulled over to talk to the guy. Yeah, he only had a SSQV...and BEGi intake and cut resonators and gutted cat. We talked for a bit before I invited him to our local Mazda club and left.

Friday night, ran into a new Civic Si. Guy had his girlfriend with him, I was ridding with my buddy with the IS, his girl and my girl were behind us somewhere in his girl's Civic, we wanted to take seperate cars because they drive to slow. Pass the Civic Si, gave it a bit of gas because he had an exhaust, sounded like an intake too, new wheels. Looked surprisingly clean. Anyway, he rolled back up on us, and waved over. Rolled down my window, and had a nice little chat pacing each other around 55ish...

Civic: Hey, nice Mazda.
Me: Thanks, your Si is pretty clean.
Civic: Yeah, thanks. Too bad it would whup that little wagon of yours!
Me: Uh, ok. Whats it like?
Civic: What?
Me: Only having two foot pounds of torque for 15rpm?
Civic: Fuck you man. I got a cold air, headers, and exhaust. I'll whup that riced out Mazda3 good.

I just laugh and I can hear him down shift. I guess he wasn't aware of the hamster modification. I drop down to third, and he honks us down the first time. Punch it at fifty five, holding doors with him all the way through third and fourth. Neck and neck at fourth, coming up on eighty/eighty five miles per hour, he has to shift...and I don't. VTEC that bitch. From then on, I had a nice, steady pull. By 90 I had a length and a half on him. Shift at 105, and another length. Shut down at 115, had a solid three lengths on him.

He pulls the usual ricer fly by and hits his hazzards. In his best Vin Deisel impersonation, my buddy goes "smoke 'em", and I roll on it in fifth at 110. Jump around an eighteen wheeler, and do a nice little sprint up to 130, fly past him, and keep the pull on up to 140 when I lift off around three lengths up again.

He lines back up with me, and we let gravity pull us back down to sixty. we both punch it at the same time, sitting in fourth for me. Its the same up to eighty, where I start pulling on him. Flat shift into fifth, jump much harder than I did last time, pulling him out another quarter of a car or so. I stay on it till a buck and a quarter, shift light comes on, and I flat foot into sixth. At this point, the Civic is bus lengths back. I hit the hazzards, and he does another ricer fly by. Eh, whatever.

That was pretty much it, save for some kid in an older I4 Accord that wanted to race me as I was leaving an R32 test drive. I rolled on it in fifth from 60, and I still pulled him, lol.

Sounds like some fun races. That guy in the Si sounds like a tool though. A guy I know has one with intake and exhaust and he wants to run me, just havent gotten around to it yet.

Oh and you should take pics of what the MS6 wheels look like on your car. There is a white 6s up in my town with powdercoated black MS3 rims and it looks really good.

congrats man, hell of a car. May I ask why u are going back to stock?

BTW, where do u live? Im planning a trip through the states come fall, id like to run against a speed3 finally.

He said not to ask, but we can guess. Since his MS3 isn't running as well as he'd like, my guess is that it's return-to-stock so the dealer won't void the warranty if he takes it in to have it looked at.

You can read about this commonly being done on the Subie forums, for instance.

But I'm not going to ask. Hope you get your MS3 purring again, CM.

who knows what goes on in that head of his. Nice runs, way to kill the honda. Cocky kids are fun to punch in the face with a BOV.

speed6 rims would be tight, curious to see what they look like on your car. We raced a Mazdaspeed 3 tonight.... :D long story, we will get to it in another post later (by we I mean the OTHER Bismarck LSJ. you know who I speak of)

Close. It has a boost leak, and that in turn is causing it to run stupid rich. Whats killing us is we can't find the god damned leak. We've looked everywhere, run compression tests, everything. I think I may have solved the problem, but seeing as I'm good friends with said problem, I'm gonna take it up with him one on one before bitching about it. The return to stock is two fold. One, I want to see if returning it to stock will fix said leak. Two, UnderEstimateMe is right, there are plans to sell it.

The option is on the table. If I can find a buyer who will pay what I want, then it will go. It comes from living in the middle east as long as I did...everything has a price, lol.

Oh, and Torched, sorry, your not special enough to get a quote, lol. I got pictures of the wheels, they are on my comp at home. Just can't seem to log on from there, so I'm gonna email them to myself and then post them up, along with the picture of your near epic fail.
