It's a pressure switch plumbed into the brake line. Mine is near the rear axle.

Correct.. right in front of the battery.
So, since we are on this topic -- you guys having issues with the timeliness of the switch to brake light? I was black flagged a few times for no brake lights -- but, they do work.

Working on an electric bypass switch, if anyone interested.

Just replace the pressure switch....you can get this at just about any auto parts store. They work fine and have been used since the 60's. If your lights are lazy probably a bad switch. It's inline just behind the battery. If it still doesn't work make sure you are getting full pressure to the rear brakes as a bad master cyl. can isolate them and pressurize only the fronts.
