Hello, I have a 1999 Town & Country Lxi (3.8L w/ 85k). A couple times a year we would start the van up and the chime would go off for about 5 minutes. This would last a couple of days and doesn't happen again for awhile. When this happens no service codes are present. Well the problem started happening again last week and now the chim starts going off when driving and not only when you first start the van. It has started in city traffic and it has started when on the interstate. I can't figure out why the chim starts randomly. In previous instances I have unplugged the battery and that seemed to fix it but I want to see if anyone know how to fix the problem causing this. Thanks for your help!

Which chime are you hearing, fuel low, door open, etc?

I dont know what chime I am hearing. The van is over a half talk of gas and all the doors are closed (door ajar light is not on). We are just driving down the road and the van starts going ding..ding..ding..ding..ding for several minutes. It makes the same sound when you have your key placed in the ignition with the drivers door open. It seems random when it happens. It has happened during the cold of winter and now its the hot of summer. The van works great other than the random dinging.

Is there any chance that it is occurring just after you have either made a turn or signaled a lane change? If you go about 3 miles or so after turning on your turn signals without turning them off a chime will come on.

I know I am not leaving the turn signal switch on so I don't think that is it unless the switch is bad. As I said before it either happens right after the van is turned on or randomly while the van is running. I am thinking it has to be a computer problem/issue but don' know how or what to do to fix this. I was just wondering if anyone else had the same issue and fixed it without unplugging the battery for a couple minutes.

The chimes are driven by the Body Control Module (BCM). You can reset the module by removing the IOD fuse in the fuse box next to the battery for 2-3 minutes. Can't find the fuse? Disconnect the negative battery cable for 2-3 minutes. It accomplishes the same.

Ya, seems like an issue with the BCM and will just remove the battery for a couple of minutes like I have done in the past. I just wanted to see if anyone had a "real fix" for this issue. If anyone has had this problem and wants to post their findings I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for all the comments.
