Acceleration problem around 45-55

Hello.
About a month and a half ago, my car started giving me a weird problem. Around the 45 to 55mph area, my rpms will seem a little low, and its really hard to accelerate faster. Basically, I'll be accelerating slowly, and if I try to give it a little more gas it's like its fighting me to do it, I can keep pushing down the accelerator little by little and it won't help, until I push it down a lot harder, than the rpms jump up considerably and it accelerates. Somebody told me it looked like my torque converter was locking and unlocking, and unpluging the battery for 5 minutes helped a little bit. Does anybody have any suggestions as to what might help? Is there anything I can try to replace that might help? Thanks for your help.
Also, it's a 2004 sedan. if that's any help. auto transmission.

It does sound like a torque converter problem.
Does it happen only at that speed range and not slightly at others?
Cuz I'd say something like the TPS or the IAC around the throttle body. But it does sound like the tranny is being retarded.

Only seems to happen around that range. I'm stumped as to what to do about it.

You know, it sounds weird, you're right. It's like driving a 5-speed, going 20 miles an hour, and dropping it into 5th. Then it bogs and takes forever to get higher to the desired speed. I guess that's what I'm relating it to.
Since it's an 04, does it have any sort of warranty still locked into the vehicle?
I remember the torque converter going bad in my mom's blazer.
I also remember a problem of the first and fourth cylinder in the truck going, and it did the exact same thing as the torque converter, in a sense.
What about PCM trouble codes? Any come up on the car?

No codes since I got the new fuel pump.

Oh man, I love when Cavis think they're running okay and they're really NOT. My cavi and I sat down and had a 6 month talk about this problem, and by the end of the conversation, she still didn't see it my way.
If there's no other suggestions, I'd hanker down on that torque converter and get the ball rolling on that note. Hope things go well for you.

This may be obvious but did you check the trany fluid? And it may be worth changing.
