Hey guys I did install the automatic trunk release actuator to the trunk hinge. I have only but one question about the switch. I did find a connector unplug once i had pulled the dash under the feet off. I have posted pictures of this plug, and wonder if anyone can verify that this is the correct set of wires for the Dead man switch for the trunk release.

I have also found this pre instaled toggle switch under the dash as well, would anyone know what that switch does too?

wow that looks like the mounting depression/hole.

But the switch looks like a custom mod. Maybe its an anti-theft, maybe its to power off the dashlights so they don't drain the battery when the delay timer fails. Could be for 'sexlights' mounted under dash/seats. Used to see alot of those in the 70s...he he

Yea I have toggle the switch to on/off to see if anything happend. I wonder if its the switch to turn off the keyless entry option. The car did not come with the option and i will install one later down the road. Im pretty much amused how easy it was to insall the actuator however. I would try to complete the circuit on that unplugged cap but too afraid of what might happend. Hey sad Lumina do you have that trunk switch? If so what are the wire colors on the connector? Are they like mine posted above?

Well guys its official I have installed a trunk release button for my lumina. I think you all will get a kick out of how i did it. I did not want to spend 10 dollars for a oem mommentary switch *Thanks Sadlumina owner for the term "Mommentary Switch"*. I looked in the tool box and used a door bell switch instead. The switch works perfect and it is rated for 17 watts. I figure thats more than enough for the car. The switch stays illuminated so it will serve its purpose at night.

I doubt it will drain the battery since im sure its a small LED light in it.
:p
