Crunching breaks

About two months ago I ran into a metal drain on the curb of the street in order to avoid hitting someone else. It messed up my suspension on the front passengers side and I had insurance take care of it. I have had body work done at that shop before, but this time I'm wondering if they did a good job or not.

Before I wreaked the suspension my car did not shake. I bought a new tire and they "fixed" what was wrong, but now my car shakes bad when I go near and past 60 mph. Yesterday I was breaking to take a turn and my brake peddle did a POP sound and now when I push down half way and beyond I get a grinding crunching feeling and sound coming from the car. I can't tell what side it's from but could it be the suspension? The car does need it's brakes checked because it's just hit 50,000 but I've never heard of a car doing this noise and feeling like this just because the breaks are bad.
I can still stop the car, but I'm paranoid. I'm going to be calling my insurance to find out if they'll reimburse me if I bring it to a mechanic to have it checked out and they find out the old shop didn't do the job right and need to fix it again, but I'd like some opinions from people here on what it might be.
