Will not turn over

1997 Chevy Ventura Van ran good yesterday no known problems shut it off now it will not turn over. lights and all electrical stuff comes on. Battery is charged,cables are good. Is there some type of safety switch/relay ?? or possible solenoid/starter problems any Ideas. Help
