1964 c10 shortbed

I have a 64 c10 shortbed and was needing to know if anyone knows what the widest rear tire size and rims with a six lug, I could install without narrowing the rear end?

I have a 1965 C10 that has 275/60/15 's on the back on 8 " wheels . The tires are very close to the fender lip as well as the inner bedsides. The do occasionally rub on one or both locations. I intend replacing them with 255/70/15 ' s for more clearance . The taller and more narrow tire will also effectively lower the rear end ratio ( 3.73 ) for less engine rpm's on the highway . This will help with fuel economy as well as engine wear and tear . Hope this helps ? Good Luck !:smokin:

i have a 77 monte carlo with . 2.73 rear end and the tires are p215/70r/15, wat tire size would increase the ratio and be the widest i could fit?

Vic , if you go to www.miata.net/garage/tirecalcold.html (http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalcold.html) , you can enter your original tire size and your new tire size , and see what the effect of the difference in tire size will be . A different size will either overdrive or underdrive the original tire size . This chart will show how many revolutions your original tire makes in one mile . Then it will tell you how many revolutions your new tire will make in one mile . The rear end ratio is matched with the original tire size , by the manufacturer , to operate within a certain perimeter . Changing the tire size , on the drive axle ( fwd or rwd ) , will change those perimeters .You can effectively change that ratio with the changing of the tire size . No, the drive ratio doesn't literally change but the effect will be the same as if it does . I don't know if I explained this very well ? Hope I didn't confuse matters !
