idle at 600rpm normal?

Once I start my 2000 GA SE 2.4 with 162k miles it runs at about 1100rpm but once it reaches normal temps 200-210 it idles at 600rpm. I could be wrong but that seems just little low. Also the engine sounds like crap when in gear and with the A/C running. Sounds like the engine is knocking. But if I give it enough gas to reach 800RPM it sounds fine.

Is this all normal? Could one increase the idle just a couple hundred RPM and it be safe? Once the car warms up. If so how do I increase?

If its a hose or sensor which and where is it located?

Thx

it does fall in line with a normal idle

Most cars will do that (go from 1.1k rpms or so then fall back to a steady idle)

Cant exactly do much with just sound, It's working harder while driving around w/ the AC on, But I really wouldnt worry about it. Unless it's very oddly loud, like it was knocking and such

Check the spark plugs too, or see if using a higher octane gas clears up the noise

yeah 600-650 rpms is normal at running temps, 1200 rpms if its cold.

It is NOT adjustable!
You can clean your TB and IAC ports to see if that helps with it idling bettter..

when testing it with a multimeter, what should it be set to and what should I look for?

just pulled it out and cleaned best I could. The place(TB port?) the IAC plugs into was very dirty with buildup, but this is 163k miles of it. However there is no spring on the IAC, are these different on a 2.4? Anyway looking over that link once my car warms up and A/C and stuff is on if I try turning the wheel while sitting still the car has tried to die before.

Hum,,,, thier should be a spring on the IAC, that could be whats wrong with your idle and almost dying.
