Hi everyone Here is the problem. 1. While driving the security light will illuminate and stay illuminated until the car is shut off. It does this randomly sometimes it will illuminate other times it wont. 2. Sometimes during the start if the engine does not start on the first attempt the security light will illuminate and then blink and lock out the start sequence where then I have to do the 11 min x3 reset process which is a real pain in the ass. Does anyone know if there is a way to disable this security system?

Thanks Sal

yo wuddup sal, unfortuneatly theres nothing you can do to bypass this without having the Security light staying on. but on the other hand you can replace the ignition cylinder with a new set of keys, ive done this and i havent had any problems since. Hope this helps, and good luck :smokin:

Try your passlock sensor. If you don't have about $450.00 to take it in to a garage to have it fixed you can cut the wire for it and it will bypass your theft system. This is what I had to do with my 96 Grand Am and it did work HOWEVER.... my theft light is always on but my car starts all the time now with no problems.

Welcome to AF courtney2971 !

Thiers a little more involved then just cutting the wire. If you did this I do not see how it works at all! Dont be suprised if it gives you trouble starting, like not starting at all.
Thier is a by pass proceedure around the forums somewhere but its not worth it IMO.

Also this users 2000 GA, is a totaly different system then your 1996 GA.
