IF anyone can help in the matter it would be greatly appreciated. I have a 1995 ford contour 2.0 4 cylinder. Im getting spark and fuel and it does crank over but runs real rough. We recently put a fresh cylinder head on the car and i think timing is the issue. Ive been told to set the timing when the number 1 and 4 cylinders are at tdc. For some reason im not getting any love from the contour. Something odd that the car now does. IT blow one of the large maxi fuses when the ingition is ingauged..We had to buy pass this abit to get it to run " very rough" if anyone has a good idea what my next step would be that would be great..I like this little car and would love to keep it but im at a loss right now...thanks for your help

That is a great link to the contour club. Timing belt replacement manual is scanned & posted. My 96 has an automatic, the concensus seems to be to removed the starter to gain access to the ring gear for a jam point to prevent rotation of crank when removing crank pulley bolt. I ended up removing the the metal plate between oil pan & tranny to accomplish same end. Remove two oil pan to tranny bolts and two small upper screws at each side. Plate can then be wiggled down & out to provide access to ring gear. The timing belt tensioner & idler pulley set I bought did not come with the tensioner spring & stud. The latest ford part #s for these parts are (W700001 S1309)-stud, (F5RZ 6L273 A)-spring. $18.00 for the stud & $10.00 for the tensioner spring. Tried a few aftermarket sources for these parts & was unsuccessful.

Yup. You name it, its been asked and answered on contour.org. Hard part sometimes is just finding the answer. Luckily, questions like these are commonly asked questions and are in the FAQs.
