MP3 Head Unit

Can anyone tell me is it possible to buy an MP3 playing head unit. I'm sure I have read that the newest models of Beetle can play MP3 CD's. I have a 2002 Beetle. I want to update but with the oblong shape of the current head unit a rectangle one would look obscure. I emailed Volkswagen and they didn't tell me anything. If you can buy OEM Mp3 head units where might you be able to purchase them?

A new OEM one would cost an arm and a leg I'd imagine and the only place you'd get one is from a VW agent. Try phoning their service/spares department - emails don't always bring results.
