Is your caprice dirty?

Mine is getting full of papers, wires, and things. Had to make room for a co-worker whom needed a ride to some places today..
I'm gonna vacuum and clean it this weekend.
Oh, and btw. Washed and waxed my baby.

I actually keep my car really clean, like it barely ever needs a vaccum, i always armor all the dash and door panels too, even down to an air freshener hanging from the mirror lol

I don't have a Caprice, but both my Impalas are always dirty (they are black). Even under a dust cover in a heated garage, they get dirty.

Yes, black is the worst color to have if you never want dirt to show.

One of the reasons I decided not too paint mine black when the time comes. Don't want to have to wash it everytime I want to drive it.

mine will get these light brown dots on it from time to time, i hate when i leave my car next to a sprinkler, cause it will either leave BIG white spots everywhere, if theres dirt in the water that too, or even worse like ive seen on some cars, copper stains.

The outside of mine is always pretty crappy looking with the fading, the knicks and chips in the paint, and different shades of color all over, I hardly ever wash it anymore just because it never really makes a cosmetic difference. Inside though I always keep nice a clean. Armor all-ed, vacuumed, windows washed inside and out, and one of them blue "new car" scent pine trees. One of the reasons I love driving the car so much... The interior is in nice shape, and when it's all clean it looks awsome, it's so comfortable, roomy. Then to cruise around on a summer evening just as it's starting to cool off a bit, windows down, listening to the crisp, clear sound of all four Alpine speakers in tune with the two subwoofers in the trunk that make drum beats come alive. Then not to mention the power of a 350 at your disposal. Ah this isn't good, daydreaming about driving my car while I'm at work. Anyway I got side tracked. In a nutshell: Outside: dirty, inside: clean, trunk: clean, engine compartment: so/so.

Hey evildragon, do you live sort of near the Deltona area?

I don't think I've washed my car more than twice in the year and a half I've had it. I think the messed up paintjob sucks that extra love out of me that would go into making sure she stays clean. Right now all teh love goes into trying to get/keep her running right.

No, I live near Orlando, in Oviedo.

Ah, nevermind then. I coulda sworn I saw your car while I was down there. I was in Oviedo once, but I can't remember where I saw the car. So did I miss out on any good pick and pull junk yards in the area while I was down there. I looked in the phone book, and tried the car-part lookup technique, but didn't really find anything.

You can ID my car easily by the Apple logo on the back, and racing flags on both sides (as sorta seen in the sig) on the front next to the wheel well.
By the way, I finally cleaned my interior.

As I look at your sig, I see it wasn't you. Similar rims, same color, but no flags or Apple logo. I think it also had the half wheel well in the back too, also unlike yours.

Mike, those Buick Rims really look at home on your Caprice!... I'm thinking of putting cragars on mine, right now Ive got the chrome caps like in Pete's signature.
As for my car's cleanliness - since the paint job, I keep the exterior clean, but the interior is a state, I stripped it ALL (except for the dash) this past weekend and met a big crunchy rusty hole in the rear passenger footwell - successive leaks from botchy patches in the roof where some kind of taxi accessory was. Well the floor is now patch welded, sanded and coated in a layer of underbody spray. Going on the hunt for some nice leather seats on the weekend while I have everything out.

Thanks, yeah i just gotta try and restore them a bit more, i can get them to shine good like in my signature, but i wanna make them look new, i gotta find some centercaps too. hey pete i meant to ask where did you get that BIG chevy bowtie decal for the back window?
PeteA216
07-17-2008, 12:11 PM
Wow, how can you tell I have that big ol' bowtie back there just from my signature picture? Anyway I got it from a sale here in upstate NY know as the dome sale where a bunch of retailers all get together and get rid of all thier old stock, a similar setup to a flea market. I can't remember the retailer's name, I got the vinyl sticker a good 4 or 5 years ago. Thats about how long they last too, mine just a few weeks ago started to peel and get dirt behind it, so I took it off. It's strange seeing it now because at night when you look in the rear view mirror when the light hits it just right you can see the ghostly shadow where it used to be. A good scrubbing will fix that right up.

Yeah them GPS's are handy little things, they can really cause dependancy though. As for a bass system, I've noticed that for the true best results, you gotta build a custom shaped tuned and vented enclosure just because the trunk is so big a generic/universal enclosure doesn't perform as well as one specifically designed for these cars. You has to see the scap paper I was going through with the calculations for the enclosure frequency tuning and driver placement.
