ran a preasure test and fuel is at 56psi until it start jumping then it jumps around under 56psi then it goes right back to 56psi this tends to happen more around 1500 rpm that i have seen so far any ideas i tested the fuses and they are running about 14volts and have not been able to test relay but i have here it clicking.

Fuel pressure is way low.
If fuel pump, relay is clicking check or replace it.
Jumper fuel pump gray wire with a 12 volt fused jumper and run a fuel fuel pressure test.
The only true test on a fuel pump is to check the direct fuel pressure from fuel pump.
A quick test is to block off the return line and see if fuel pressure comes up to 75-85 lbs.
But do not run the pump at full pressure very long.
Also when testing fuel pump and pressure you need to tape a gauge to outside windshield or outside mirror and drive it on the road for 20 -30 minutes
until the pump gets has run a while to check for a pump fading out after hot.

Hard to start cold or hot and fuel pressure testing guide lines.
Check cold start fuel pressure.
Check engine running fuel pressure.
Check engine running on the road fuel pressure.
Then shut it off and watch for fast leak down.
Pinch off at rubber part or block off return line and check full pressure.
If pump has full pressure with return line blocked and low pressure without it blocked most usually the fuel pressure regulator is leaking or not holding pressure.
Later V6 and V8 gm engines should have 60-66 fuel pressure.
Cold start should be 64-65 lbs of pressure.
If you do not have full fuel pressure on a cold start the injectors will not squirt fuel.
Do not leave home without it.
Engine running should be 60-66 lbs pressure depending on engine load.
Full pressure with return pinched off should be 75-85 or more.
And if it has a fast leak down after shut off you have a leak in system.
Post back fuel pressure readings.

im not sure why your saying my fuel pressure is to low my engine is supposed to run with key one engine off between 55-61psi an engine running psi will drop anywhere from 3-10 psi so my fuel pump is putting out the right amount of pressure. to me i would say sense the code is Fuel Pump Primary Circuit, i would say that i have a electrical problem sense my relay is clicking on and off i just don't know why the pump it turning the relay on and off .

hi i checked the codes on my truck again today and i found 2 more codes i have code p0230 a p0443 and a code p0405. so i am wondering sense all of them are dealing with electrical what would cause them i have had the p0405 for 2 weeks nows and haven't had time to check it out then the truck started jumping at idle and other rpms when steady like running at 40mph /1500 for a few miles the truck starts to jump like no gas and fuel pressure begins to jump between 56 and 30 psi . and sometimes the truck stalls when idleing or backing out of the driveway and idle speed. i know the p0230 and p0443 both deal with circuits so i am guessing i have a relay or fuse or some kind of electrical issue. if anyone has any ideas that would be helpful.

Better pitch the haynes/or so called repair manual you are getting your fuel pressure readings/specs in the trash can.
They are way off.
Factory fuel pressure specs for a 01 4.3 V6 os 60/66 lbs of pressure.
Your fuel pressure is low if it is not 65-66lbs pressure key on engine prime up or cold cranking.
Or 63-65 lbs engine running.

Your codes and relay clicking indicate a voltage problem.
In the upper fuel pressure test I gave you a way to check fuel pump pressure wit a fused jumper to test fuel pump and the proper fuel pressures and test.

As to the codes you are getting a all data on line sub or afactory repair manual will give the repair flow charts for testing the circuits on the codes.

i dont know where your getting your psi specs at but im getting mine from a chevy factory manual that the chevy mechanics use and it says it should be between 56 and 61 psi and drop the 3 to 10 psi when running by book says the same as the haynes manual and all others i have seen. not to mention my truck has been running 56 or 57 psi for over a year now and its been running strong and hard tell now.i know i have a electrical issue somewhere in my system i am just having trouble finding out where it is at i would assume sense the po230 and po443 code came up at the same time it has to been in the same place possibly a relay or fuse blown but im not sure .so anyideas as to where i should be looking i already did all the testing to the fuel pump and they all show it to be good.

I use mitchell On Demand and all data which is a copy from GM the factory manual.

If your factory maual says 55/61 your are on the wrong year or wrong engine.
Yours is a 01 s-10 4.3 V6 right or wrong?
Fuel pressure should never drop 10 lbs engine running.

If you have a factory manual it should have the repair flow charts for the codes,
Find them and go threw them step by step and you will find the problem.
Good luck

Double check your factory manual for the correct year and engine.
or look up the specs here which is a copy of factory manual specs.

Also repair AZ web site which is all data information.
Good luck

well i did some reading and found that my crank shaft postion senor has something to do with my fuel pump circuit while going through my book so i figured what the heck i'll take my truck to the car wash and spray my engine bay down and clean any oil or dirt that could be stuck on the sensor so i cleaned it as best i could with out takeing it off the truck and now the truck seems to be running great it cleared all my codes asap when i started the truck . so i checked it when i got home on my computer and it had no codes at all cleared the stored codes took it for a drive 5 miles and no codes still trucks running great but i still have 56psi fuel when the trucks running like i always have. so idk but it looks like i just had some or 1 dirty sensors thanks for the help
