I may be bad with the search button, but i didn't really find anything on this bike. 2 Threads to be exact.
Anyways, i'm a beginner and looking for a nice looking bike to learn on and the 250 really caught my eye. I read through all the posts on here about starting on a smaller bike and they really helped me make my decision guys-- so thanks
Anyways... i have a couple of questions. How will this bike do on the freeway? i don't want to race it or anything, just want to sell my 300zx (gas is killing me ) but will it hit anything around 80? and be okay? Is this a good bike to start out on? MSRP says only 3500$, so i could buy the bike and still have some money left over to play around with if i sold my car.
Sorry if i'm hard to understand. i'm bad at putting my thoughts in an understandable sequence i guess you could say? thanks for any advice guys. appreciate it.
for the hell of it... i'm about 5'9-5'10 ish, ~170 pounds, soon to be in college =\

Welcome!
It sounds like the Ninja 250 would be an EXCELLENT choice of bike for you. Thanks for reading a little history on our recommendations!
Yes, you can do 80mph on a Ninja 250. However, the bike is incredibly light and tends to be less stable at higher speeds than some of its larger cousins. I have been on a 250 at about 70mph and felt fine, but I could see how some might find it unnerving. With your size, I can't imagine you'll have any problems on the bike.
Do some research and talk to a few dealers. Even though they are cheap, I would hope that you could pick one up for under sticker price (so you'd have a little more extra cash leftover). I'm not making any promises, as I hear that the 250s have been a lil tough to come by, but I figured its worth throwing out there.
PS - Expect to spend a MINIMUM of $5-600 on gear including *but not limited to* a DOT/SNELL approved helmet, gloves, jacket and boots.
