I have a 89 chevy beretta gt stopped to get gas the other day went to crank the car it wouldn't start. I checked the fuel pump thats ok have no spark. I also need to know how to find the coils. Please someone help not sure what to do. It is a 2.8ltr automatic transmission.

Trace the plug wires to the coils. On 3.1's they are usually in the front of the engine on older cars, unsure on the 2.8 but simply follow the plug wire from the plug to the coil pack. You have three coils sitting on a flat ignition module. Usually if you have no fire it is the module itself. You won't have three bad coils...but you might also have a bad crank sensor...which tells the car WHEN to fire. Pick up a haynes manual or similar at Advance auto to guide you. The ignition module can be tested, but you have to remove the entire coil assembly at once then take the module off and have it tested at most parts stores. I have seen both crank sensors and modules go bad at the same time..on a friends 89 Corsica. Most likely one of the two.
