Well today my eyes have been opened. Rally cars, jeeps, trucks... they all suck unfortunately. Dune Buggys WIN. I got a ride in a bad ass dune buggy today, and there is nothing like it. I can't believe the kind of crazy shit the thing can fly over at 100+ miles an hour and still feel smooth. It defied everything I could even imagine. There were 18 and 24 inch ruts and shit that the thing just soaked up. I didn't think it would be feasible for a vehicle to get so airborne and still be ok. The mountains and hills this thing climbed would have made a jeep or any off road vehicle jealous. All I have to say, is that there is nothing like it. Its just not possible for any subaru body, mitsu body, or any other kind of body to do what this beast was doing. The terrain this thing was blazing over would have been impossible for even a well outfitted truck to handle. Impressive, thats all I can say. It blew my mind.

That was something I always wanted to try when I lived out in Utah. We had a small area known as the "sand dunes" and a buggy would have been awesome to blast around all day in.
Must've been a blast. Hope I get to try it someday.

A guy down the street from me has one of thoes. Looks killer. I'd ask for a ride but it looks like he's putting a bigger engine on it right now. We have a "Sand Dune" area here too. About 15 people die on it each year. Of course every one of them are on a 4 wheeler.

I was amazed, its hard to believe that something like that can really exist. I knew it would be cool, but it blew my mind. Dunebuggy/ baja racer... that is what fast really is I am convinced. That is truly a car that terrain does not matter to. Amazing.

Was it like a sand rail or one of those Paris Dakar/Baja trucks?
I want the Red Bull/VW Paris Dakar Touareg. Oh, and back when I was up in MO, I had a room mate who, for about three weeks, had an STi before blowing up the tranny. We would take it off roading around our school. There would always be the big ass mud trucks stuck and not moving anywhere, and we'd just bounce along on our merry way.

But what Fails about Dune Buggies is the price it is to build the fuckers.
It's the ultimate WIN/FAIL of all time... besides a Hot chick with Herpes.

Yeah the price would be crazy if it was me buying it, but it just made anything else not made for pavement seem trivial.

I have seen a Baja truck in action down in Arizona by my grandparents ranch. The bastard lines up to a cliff that doesnt look like anything could make it down without being in multiple pieces at the bottom.
he shitcans it and flies down this thing like its his driveway. I cried like an hungry, angry baby. (guess the reference!) that thing was the most amazing machine I have ever seen. Price tag?
all the guy said was "I sold my grandma"
Now, I took this as a joke at the time, yet the more i think about it... the more disturbed I become. I am trying to ignore the nagging image of an 80 year old woman locked in a basement making jelly for a cult of midgets.
But, back to topic, I would give almost anything to have a ridiculous sand rail/dune buggy/baja truck. They are a tad safer than a 4 wheeler, going off of what Bezerk said.
