Hello. Im wondering how I would go about replacing the left quarter panel on my "new" 1990 Geo Metro. Its my first one and im excited about getting it up and running good. Also im about to go to pull a part this weekend to get a tranny for it and am wondering if a Geo, a Sprint or a Swift would be best to get one from? Are there any differences? Will the latter models fit? Im also about to change the MAP sensor out with a used one. Is there any special thing I need to do after the new one goes on? Thank you very much for any help and I will enjoy reading and learning about my new Geo here on these forums!

Just start pulling bolts off that quarter panel. Pull everyone you see that could be holding it on pull em out. Try to remove the panel and see where it is still being held on. Just keep going til you can get it off. Install is just the reverse.

Im talking about the rear quarter panel. It looks like its part of the body and will have to be cut off or something. Maybe I didnt look close enough but it looks like a big job. Thanks.

Its not that tough of a job to take one off. Just pull the side window out(three screws, one on the latch and two under the rubber at the front of the window) and you will see that there are spotwelds every 2'' or so. Drill about a quarter inch hole right in the middle of each spotweld and separate the two pieces. There are more spotwelds around the entire perimeter of the pannel and you'll need to decide where to cut in front and at the back of the pannel. It would be best to have a pannel in hand before you start cutting so you can match the the two parts and cut accordingly. I have rear quarters off a 93 that should work but I see in your info where you are in Tennesee and shipping could be pricey.
