F150 trailer wiring

I have a 1984 F150 that I am trying to get trailer lights to work with it. I have brake lights and turn signals on the trailer, but when I turn on the parking lights to the truck my turn signals on the trailer looks like four way flashers and when I press on the brake pedal I lose my trailer lights all together. I have changed the wiring and lights on the trailer, and the T - wiring harness on the truck, but they still do the same thing. I cleaned all the ground connections also. Does anyone have a solution to my problem? :headshake :crying:

Use yahoo search type in (Champion trailer wiring) The first link has various problems search wiring in brake controller. They have wiring diagrams use this to make sure your wires are correct.
My 1997 F-150 had a plug on the floor within 18 inches of the brake pedal.
Use a plug from a trailer place or Northern equipment then just check colors on the plug. I think you aren't connected properly.

Most trailer wiring problems are caused by a bad ground. I know you said you cleaned the ground connections, but just for grins: Go under the truck and clean a spot on the main frame down to shiny metal. Try to find an existing hole to use, but if you dont have one, drill one. Do the same thing on the trailer and make up a ground wire to connect the two. Now when you trouble shoot it you know the problem isnt the ground to the trailer. If the turn signals flash normally w/o the trailer and fast with it you need a heavy duty flasher.
