Dashboard seperation

I want to repair my dashboard where the padded part seperated from the plastic part that holds it down. This seems to be a common problem on the Taurus. I was wondering if anyone has done this. I'm trying to avoid a mess and glue smell in the cabin.
Any suggestions on a strong, oderless glue that will remain strong with the high temeratures the glue will be exposed to with the California sun beating down on it? Any suggestions on how to hold the dash down while it dries? There's about 20 inches of seperation.
The car is a 96 GL wagon.

I used Gorilla glue with good results. I initially tried automotive Goop, but it let go after a few days in the sun. The Gorilla Glue held well and there was no odor. You will need to be very careful on application not to drip the glue elsewhere (I suggest covering the floor and steering column with plastic during application and drying). I used quick clamps like what's sold at the hardware store to hold the padded part in place while it dried overnight. It took a couple of days in the sun for the dimple from the clamps to disappear.
