1990 Ford

I have a 1990 Ford Ranger that cuts out and misses when it gets hot. When it is cool it runs right but after it gets hot it wont run right. Anyone have any advice on this one?

Yes, its had new plug wires and they are gapped correctly. It only does it when it gets hot thought. When it cools down it runs fine.

This is late enough that I don't know if you've already solved the issue. If not, though...

Have you tried replacing the coolant temperature sensor? It acts like an electronic choke so if it's getting weak or going bad it can wreak bloody hell on your engine's performance and fuel economy. And let's face it, if it hasn't been replaced yet it should be -- the truck's 18 years old at this point. I swapped mine out (once I found the bugger) and my engine smoothed out as soon as I turned the key again. My fuel economy went up as did the engine's pep.

Sorry this is so late in coming, I haven't been on-site since December. Also, for more accurate advice you should post some specs -- engine displacement, cylinders, mileage (if known) are all important factors. Has the engine been modified or is it stock? Is it a 4x4 or a 4x2? In this case it doesn't matter much, but for future advice it'd be best to say which one applies.
