Hey guys.....I just bought my Vibe GT after trading in a Ford Focus. Needless to say, I am not used to driving at high RPMS. My Focus usually never went higher that 3000 RPMS. With this new Vibe GT, will it cause any engine damage to run the engine at 6000 RPMs or higher? I have read about this sudden boost of power that kicks in at 6000 RPMS from the high performance CAM and valve system. The highest I have run mine is about 4800 RPMs and it starts getting kinda' loud like I am really runninf it hard. Just curious.

Jim.

"LIFT" doesn't kick in until about 6300 RPM.

The GT engine doesn't reach 180 hp until you rev it to about 7600 RPM.

(180 HP @ 7600 rpm, 130 lb-ft @ 6800 rpm)

If you never take it up past 6000 rpm, then you are never using the available 180 hp or 130 lb-ft of torque.

Even though its loud, its perfectly normal. In order to take full advantage of the power band for the Vibe GT, you gotta drive it in the upper RPM range. I have maxed mine out many times.

IF you never plan on driving past 6000 rpm, you should trade in your GT for a Base Vibe. Below 6000 rpm, they are basically the same performance-wise. After 6000 rpm, the GT is superior.

I posted this note quite a while ago. I have since then learned the joys of high RPM driving :D !

IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR VIBE OUT OF THE SHOP AND KEEP IT RUNNING GOOD FOR A LONG TIME DRIVE IT NORMAL...USE THAT 180 HORSES FOR EMERGENCIES OR ON A SPECIAL OCCASION AT A STOP LIGHT WITH A FORD FIESTA

Just try to keep it under 8000rpm. On mine I found out it's pointless after 7800rpm. You pretty much stopped accelerating and whould have to swich gears. Be man 7600rpm is the SWEET spot.
