AMT sucks ass!!!! Their kits are cheep and poorly made! I bought a 1993 Corvette ZR-1, and the hood fits like sh*t! I mean its likeits not even made for the car! I do have a diff spare that i'm using but god. The kit is awefull.
If you have had bad experiances (with AMT kits) please tell!

Don't hate them any more than I should....
Only ever built one AMT kit, as a favor for a friend, it was the last one I will ever build.....

I think AMT is better than revell. You get what you pay for.

Amt does make some good kits, you just have to find them. I have a Viper that is very well made, little casting flash and every thing fits.
I think the reason most people hate amt is that they dont want to put a little bit of effort in to making it fit right or work well. With a little work all amt kits can be made great. Any modeler can make a taymia kits look good but it takes a good modeler to make a amt or revell kit look good.

Is AMT really that bad. I just bought a '57 Vette, thinking that AMT is much better than Revell... Oh well, I am starting it soon, I hope it is okay.

I will still build them because I have faith in my abilities as a modeller and because they offer subject matter I'm interested in.:grey:

:( I was excited to start my '57 Vette, thinking I would finally be escaping from Monogram. Does anyone have this kit? The AMT 1957 Corvette with a black one on the box...
Oh well, I think I am going to pick up some Tamiyas...

I can't say i'm a fan! Some of their parts are often way out and a real struggle to correct. But as some people have said, it is the modeler and not the model. I definately think AMT kits should avoided by beginers, i'd recommend Tamiya everytime for anyone starting out.

Very well put Antonio!
I feel the same way and I've built some NASCAR Craftsman trucks and some 64 Impala Lowriders without any problems. You just have to look for them. I've seen some of the newer stuff since Racing Champions acquired AMT and its not very good. Everything is now made in China and the retail price tags are way too high for mediocre kits. I'm left wondering if China's QC department is a little lacking.

I built an AMT/ERTL kit, '63 Chevy Impala and I loved it. I'll give you some pics when I get my new camera(Wednesday or Thursday...)
It was my first plastic kit and I think it was OK.

Hey all companies have had crap kits even Tamiya. If you go back 20 years ago you will understand (arfix was good ?) You just need a little effort and paitence. I've built most brands tamiya great when have a engine a snap kit when without a engine. revell okay some german revell are diferent than us ones. And Amt well some have been fun to build and some become a wild experiment just look at my website www.djamos69.com and see how you can turn a amt disaster into something wild
