I have had a new radiator fitted to my renault trafic 1989 (camper conversion) after an overheating problem. also the rad fan has been wired to run constantly. after running about 5 hundred miles i have had no problems at all. how will this be on the long term.

thank you

Welcome to AF.

If your overheating problem is fixed, you should not have any future problems. I would suggest flush the cooling system and add fresh coolant every 2 years to keep the cooling system in top shape.

As for the fan being on all the time, you may notice a very small decrease in fuel economy due to the greater electrical drain. In my opinion, it is probably unnecessary to make this change, although it is not doing any harm.

Almost all such fans have a thermostatic switch that switches the fan on only when the engine gets hot enough. IMHO if this switch works properly the fan does not have to run all the time. Possibly this switch or wiring could be repaired so the fan runs as Renault intended.
