92 Chevy Corvette no starte

Ok I gotta 92 Chevy corvette that will not start at times and when it does starte it runs terrible most of the time. We have had a new fuel pump installed and bypassed the security but neither helped my problem. Today I barrowed an old snap on scanner from a friend of mine to attemp to scan for codes and the computer kept telling me no communication. The scanner would communicate with the abs computer but not with the engine computer. Does this mean my computer is bad or maybe a power wire to the computer is bad.
