Problems with 94-99 diesels?

Hi, A/F-ers! I have been a Chevy guy my whole life but now economics have made me look at buying a 1994 to 1999 Dodge diesel 4x4. I am pretty good with Chevy's but now am a "newbie" when it comes to Dodges. My question is: what to look for as far as buying/maintaining one. I know to stay away from the automatics and watch the lift pumps on the 24 valves, but other than that, what else? I will also review the existing threads to get a feel for what's out there.

Also: what kind of mileage are you all getting in town/highway? Stock or modified?
