everything was working fine when i parked it this morning but when i got back in it to go home, none of the guages were working. the only light in the dash is the bright red parking brake light, mysteriously enough. i thought maybe i inadvertantly engaged the brake so i engaged it and disengaged it several times just to see if it was stuck and now it will no longer engage but the light is still on. Also, after i unhooked and rehooked the battery thinking maybe it would reset itself but now i hear a click under the hood when i start it and the brake light flickers. anyone have a clue??

Check the fuse in the fuse box on drivers side of dash, if fuses are all good I would check the igntion switch. These are known to go bad in these cars.

Yeah, i have a clue... How much do I wanna bet that you had the windows up, and when you got in the car it was hot? am i close? because if I am, then if you leave your doors open for 15 minutes, see if the gauges work then... something tells me they just might....

I only know this because EVERY time we had to go out in our 95 (when it was hot out, Summer time) , we had to open our doors prior so ALL our interior electronics worked.. ie, windows, blower fan.. gauges...

give it a try, if i'm wrong i'm sorry... we never found a cure for our weird over heated electrical problem... g'luck.
