Does anyone know the difference between the 2 years of engines. I just replaced my 96 with a 2000. The manifolds were different and the hose connections and a few sensors. I just used the old manifold and all seems well except it doesnt seem to have as much power. Did Chevy change the horespower or the stroke of the engine? No driveability problems except p0440 code. Shouldnt cause any driveability problem though.

The book, the Hollander says the 2000 4.3 does not fit,it is wrong.the 2000 fit will fit in a 1996 and the same way with the 1996 in a 2000. The 2000 4.3 has metric bellhousing and starter bolts and that is the only diffarances I know.

Thanks for the reply. I know the intake manifold is different and upper radiator house housing. I just know that the performance seems worse. It doesnt have as much power. Maybe it gets better mileage. I used the old manifold and throttle body.
Just wondering.
