Hey guys,

I havent posted anything in the best part of a year i guess due to college and attending loads of motorsport events. Ive just had an idea of a christmas present for my dad - a drawing of his car - and think it best to get started a.s.a.p.

The help part - i can do outline sketches well, in my opinion, and can pencil shade to a certain extent; however i have much trouble with colouring my drawings (i want to get the drawing looking as real as possible; i.e not a toon). All i wanted to obtain is some advice on colouring techniques, and colouring pencils / other materials.

One more thing, and i know im asking quite a lot, is could someone possibly PM me a realistic sketch, pre-coloured, and the reference picture to go with it so that i can get some practice in..

All this would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Rob.

Considering u just said u can sketch pretty good, why dont u sketch it and practice coloring ur own drawing. u will learn more from ur own drawing. maybe we can post some coloring tuts

Hey GB,

I know this would make sense, but it would take up a ot of time, unnecessarily in my opinion; a sketch can take me many hours, so to do one just to practice colouring seems to me a waste of time. I was just hoping that maybe someone had a colouring 'template' for me to try it out on.

Thanks.

Lol no, i didnt mean it like that.
I can sketch, so i feel confident doing that, but i need to practice colouring, so it seems pointless spending hours on the sketch beforehand. If someone coud provide a sketch and a reference pic, thatd be great help.

Cheers.

if you are a good sketcher...have you not got any prior sketches handy to colour?.. you obviously had practice...so should have a few lying around...look under the bed...
