wipers stop in up position

Hey guys, I hope you can help me. I have a 2000 chevy venture and my wipers stop in the up position when I turn them off. Everything else seems to work. Is there a way to know what would cause that. I'm getting people telling me that the motor may be out of whack and to adjust it (how would you do that ), the wiper motor needs replacing and possible the pulse board can be culprit. Any ideas? Thanks.

Try looking through these threads which have addressed the issue in the past:

Thank you. I did do a search for wipers before I asked but these didn't come up. I will try these suggestions.

Also check the "sister forums", Pontiac Montana, and Oldsmobile Silhouette as they too experience the same issues.

I know this thread is over a year old but I'll answer it anyway for other people.

I had the same problem. Searched all over the internet, even asked a couple of mechanics I know. Could not find anything that solved the problem. Finally I took the cover off and watched the motor as I cycled it on and off. I noticed that at the top of the wiper motor assembly there is a small metal pin (vertical). I took a screw driver and moved the pin side to side a couple of times. While doing this I sprayed some WD40 (loosing oil) around the top and side of the wiper motor assembly. After I did this the wipers worked perfectly. Parked every time.

Now that I had it working. I knew that WD40 dries up quickly so I used a oil dropper and put some motor oil on the moving parts. I haven't had a problem in a year now.
