Power window fun >.>

Hey xero, remember me? Lol.

My car's power windows work so slowly whether the engine is running or not, it's not even worth using them. I find it strange because the sunroof works just fine, whether the motor is running or not.

Please tell me this is, like, a big well-known N-body problem that there's a good fix for. I'm going to replace the motors soon enough, but if it's not the motors, please tell me what a possible fix could be. Thanks =]

my driver window would roll up super slow and sometimes not even close all the way, i replaced the whole window regulator, motor and everything, and now the window works flawlessly, i say change that motor and you should be set :)

Thanks. I never changed the regulators in the front doors, so that's probably where my problem's coming from.

I'm already replacing the rear ones, but that makes it simple enough because the regulators and motors are all in one piece.

Your front windows are the same as the rear basicly.

I would just change out the whole regulator/motor on the fronts. On the newr GA's they sometimes need a little lube.
I think this is what causes them to break down so much.

I just hope I can afford that. =P The local salvage yard wants $25 for each set; new ones are completely out of the question. O'Reilly wants $100 each.

I would check the voltage at the motor while you are rolling the window up. It should be very close to battery voltage. If it's more than .5v less (ideally it should be the same, but even a full volt or two wouldn't make them slow with the engine running), check for where you are losing voltage. If that's the '96 in your signature, I wouldn't really think the motors would all be bad yet.

Well, the woman we bought it from said her husband got mad at her (this was around the time of her divorce) and tried to abuse her car as much as he could before having to give it up to her. =P

I am replacing the drivers side regulator this weekend! Any pointers or tips or even hints? I have a 2000 Grand Am GT, 2 door! How long can I expect this to take?

Andrew,
I found cheap ones on Ebay, for the wife's truck. Paid like $25.00 each plus shipping. Yes I know they will probably not last that long. But the price was right.

Wow, took only 20 minutes to replace! It did not come with instructions though. But I didn't them anyways! Thanks for the help!

Ebay is the cheapest to find these parts. Also, check out directauto.com!
