gas line problem

I was hoping some one had a trick to freeing up the line and coupler to remove the gas filter. thank you

Always use two wrenchs one looks like a double box six points with a slit in one side for the line. Sears or most parts store carry them. In a worst case situation use a tubing cutter and cut the line. Go to a hard ware or Lowes or Home depot and buy two copper joint connectors. Then buy a new fuel filter and two pieces of steel tubing with ends that fit the filter. They may sell connectors but the stores are not as well equipped as they used to be.
Use the tubing cutter and make everything fit properly. They use copper crimp connectors.
Take a piece of tubing with you so you get the correct size. Use sand paper to clean any corrision off before connecting. Watch with the engine running to be sure all leaks are repaired. I seen repairs by people using a reciprocating saw cut by mistake and cut the line to the pump when cutting a hole in the bed for the fuel pump. These fittings worked fine they even make elbows.

Good info, but many GM filters are retained by clips in the plastic line that require the release tool, we still do not know what vehicle we are dealing with here!
