you can definately buy a fast car or one with a lot of mod-potential for $15k, but there's a huge variety in what you can go with. how important is fuel economy to you? do you want 4, 6, or 8 cylindars? forced induction or N/A? drivetrain? import or domestic? narrowing it down just a little bit more will help :)

thanks for the reply and helping me help you narrow it down.

i know i can't have the best of all worlds such as looks, speed, fuel eco, reliability, etc etc.

i'll start with fuel eco, i'd put this somewhere in the middle
4 or 6 cyl,
well i love imports such as skylines, silvias etc but, being 15+years old the interriors are to out of date for my taste. :( so i think domestic works best

like i love 350z's, g35's, and cars along the "newer looking" with some kick to them still. i've always loved the 350 but i want some more options,

i hope this helps some?

350z's are definately attention getters, but they're performance seems to be overrated from what i've seen. most of the ones at the track i've seen run high 14's/low 15's, and i've never actually seen one dip into the 13's (which supposedly they can do stock).

i'm not sure on how new of a car you want, but some other fast 6cyl options are late 90's m3's or vr-4's, the srt-6 crossfires, or rx-8's (although rx-8's get terrible gas mileage). vr-4's and m3's both have a lot of mod potential, and while i've never really seen a modded crossfire, they run mid to low 13's stock and i'm sure it wouldn't take a lot to push one into the 12's.

some good boosted 4cyl's are the srt-4, sti, evo, or n/a and a little bit slower stock the rsx. srt-4's run high 13's/low 14's stock, but they take to mods like crack. it doesn't take very much to get these things going fast, you just have to overlook the fact that they are essentially a souped up neon. sti's and evo's rip out of the hole pretty well because of the AWD, but they have very little top end in stock trim, and pretty much fall on their faces after ~80.

there's a pretty big aftermarket of parts for pretty much all of these cars (except for maybe the crossfire), so they definately have the potential to be made faster if you wanna put more $$ into them down the road at some point. i hope this helps a little bit.

yeah that's what i thought about the 350, i just love em, but the crossfire looks interesting, i'll keep my eye on that, do you recommend any US sites i can watch for 350z and such? because up in canada you are lucky to find a 350 for 20k. but i hear in the states you can find them for around 15

i guess RSX-type S are not to bad, ah it's just so hard picking "the one" ha ha. i'll have to test drive a bunch when i figured out the ones i should test

autotrader.com is probably the best site to find used cars in the US. and yeah test driving a bunch of different cars is definately a good idea..when you find the right one you'll know

i think it would be best too if it seats more then 2.

i love sti's and evo's but they run well past 15k, so are there some more 4 seaters in the 15k range
