is it very hard to swap the rear differential compnents? my original rear end had a hole in the diff cover and all the fluid leaked out and the rear end seized. instead of replacing the whole rear end, is it easy enough just to swap out the gears?

6-8 hrs to clean up and set up a new ring gear and bearings.
Special tools and know how is required to set up bearing preload and gear patterns.
Cost and time wise it may be a 50 -50 deal.http://www.differentials.com/install.html
Price out a good complete rear end the parts to repair your old one.
Good Luck either way you decide to go.

It may be easier to go to a bone yard and do a complete replacement. I did that on a 91 that broke a ring gear tooth.
