Hi I am new but could use some help I just did a head gasket job on a 2001 malibu with a 3.1 and for some reason the upper intake plenum does not sit flat on the lower intake it is far enough off the when I tried to tourqe it down it broke the upper plenum. Has anyone out there ever herd of anything like this?
Thanks for any help I can get

If the car was working before it must have been flat therefore something has changed during your R & R. Have you torque all the intake bolts down? Did you accidently leave a bolt on the intake? Did you properly route the MAP sensor in the back of the plenum? A gasket goes between the intake and the plenum therefore you must have zero gaps to seal. Look around the area that is high and you'll find your problem.
