Silverado Leather Seat Cover Replacement?

Hi all,
I just purchased a complete set of OEM replacement leather seat covers for my 2000 Silverado Ext Cab. My truck has the leather heated power front bucket seats and the standard rear bench. Anyone ever done this job? How do your remove the factory covers? Any special tools needed? Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions provided.

you'll need super deep torx socket, they even call it chevy seat removal socket to pull seats out. good luck on doing this with seats still in the truck.

my drivers seat needed a new leather cover back in 2000 because it was defective the seat cover was replaced by the shop and it was a fairly simple job.. the seat was not removed the covers came off and the heater stayed in place....I had them insert extra stuffing to give the seat better comfort..same leather seat in truck and with the leather conditioner i use they are still very good looking and comfortable..

Turns out the I got the wrong kit, but the bottom seat covers fit, so I just relaced the bottom covers of the front seats. I got the whole kit for $150 off ebay, so it as still a great deal.
Here's how to replace the bottom covers on the bucket style seats 99-02 and the 40/20/40 bench. They have the same bottom covers. Backs are different. 40/20/40 bench has no armrest in the center.
1) Remove seat bottom cushion assy from seat tracks by removing the two nuts from under the front of the seat. There is one oneach side.
2) Lift front of seat cushion assy about an inch, slide seat cushion forward and lift. There are two slotted studs on the rear.
3) Lift seat cushion upward. Disconnect all wiring connectors. ( theres a bunch)
4) Remove seat side cover by removing four phillips screws.
5) Remove lower seat belt attaching nut. Pull seat belt out of cushion.
6) Remove old cover. To remove place the seat cusion on the floor with the leather facing the floor. Stand on the bottom of the seat to compress the foam. Push edges of seat cover down ward to to release plastic connector rails from seat base.
** :nono: Be careful - the seat base has many sharp edges***
7) Remove seat control panel from side of cushion by removing four phillips screws. Disconnect wiring and remove control completely - You'll need it out of the way to cut the new hold in he new cover.
8) Place the new cover on the seat losely.
9) Place the seat cusion with the cover face down. Stand on the seat to compress the foam. Attach plastic rails along front and sides.
10) Turn seat over. Reach inside to feel front velcro line and pull cover backward to attach velcro along front on inside of cover. Make sure the two side velcro lines are lined up.
11) Flip seat over, attach rear plastic rail, side plastic attachments and seat belt opening attachement. Standing on the seat again.
12) Make sure the cover is properly positioned. It is difficult to get it pulled back far enough to fit properly.
13) Cut + shaped slit for seat control on side of seat. Be carful not to mak the cuts too long. Make cuts to approximately 1/2 inch of opening. Look at the old cover for an idea of how it should look.
14) Install seat control. ( 4 screws and wiring)
15) Reinstall cushion assy in vehicle. (wiring, seat belt nut, side cover, two slotted studs in rear, two nuts in front in this order!)
To whole job is kind of a pain, especially with no instructions! It took me about 2 hours for the first one. The second was much easier after I figured out how to do it.

the seat cover you purchased is not oem as my vehicle had been done with not cutting of the replacement seat leather /foam ......the leather did fit like O.J.'S glove very tight....

Yes, I know. It was a Mark IIII OEM replacement. The OEM is no longer available from GM in the Oak (dark tan)color. I did find an OEM cover at a retro outfit for the right seat bottom for around $400. I was unable to find the left OEM bottom cover anywhere for any price.
