I have an '86 Marquis and the Throttle Cable snapped on me a few weeks ago, I know very little about cars except basic maintenence and a google search on throttle cables just left me with frustrating and incomplete results and no clear answers. I simply want instructions on where I can purchase an appropriate cable for my vehicle and a guide on how to remove the broke one properly and install the new one correctly. Help would be greatly appreciated.

I think Autozone sells the cable. They can also give instructions on how to install and adjust.

Would this work in my vehicle or would I need a different one? It says universal but I don't know if GM makes Mercury or not.

What kind of car are we talking about? Is it a GM made vehicle? Or is it a Mercury vehicle? Now you have me confused. Or are you askinr about the Grand Marquis? Little more information please.

Sorry, my bad. The car I'm talking about here is a 1990 Mercury Grand Marquis.

That one will probably work. Have the parts house give you exact information as to replacement and adjustments. Good luck.
