2003 Honda Civic SI

Hey guys,

my mom says she can get me a real good deal on a Honda Civic SI, 2003. What are your thoughts on this car?

Not worth the price tag. For half the price you could have a way faster car. Yes it is nice but looks aren't everything.

it's 15k not a bad price for brand new 0 miles!...

they need to make some more mods for it though

i think they are too bulky and not even that fast really, if theres some way you could buy it and then sell it to make a profit...

my thought is that i hate the style of the car but the engine is not that bad. for the money you could get a much much faster car. or just wait and lay some money down on the rx-8 mmmmm rotory engine.

for those of you that say its not fast have you ever driven it? i drove one with 10 miles on it so the engine wasnt even broken in yet and it pulled just as hard as my friends 99 Si but in all rev ranges, no just above 4k rpm. and i have seen the new Si's beat the 99-00 ones all the time. so why is it slow?

I think he meant to say that for a 2.0L honda engine its slow
My personal thought is that the exterior design of the car is not very nice, i'd personally much rather get a 00SI even tough its used :D

EXTERIOR STYLING LEAVES A LOT TO BE DESIRED....AND I DON'T THINK IT'S SUCH A FEAT THAT THE 2.0 LITRE IN THE 03 SI KEPT UP WITH THE 1.6 LITRE IN THE 00 SI....U'D THINK IT WOULD BE FASTER...BUT SEEMS TOO BIG FOR ME

i think they look pretty cool. they need rims and a drop then that lil minivan looks pretty mean

When i went in to buy a car from honda and i test drove the 02 si and the 02 ex man there wasnt that big of a difference.... i mean yeah the si is faster but for the price it isnt worth it.... i mean u can not feel the vtec at all on it.....it has waaaay to many o2 sensors......the intake sucks because u can barely hear it..... Truthfully i have found alot of 2000 si civics for less then 13k and they ARE worth it cause they are not only fast but they scream like crazy... and look nice.......and u can find many parts for them.....they are a better bang for the buck cause u get the almighty B16 and ya dont have to worrry about getting a swap........

"almighty b16..." :hehehe: i hadn't heard that one before...they're my least favorite of the b-series vtec motors by far. if u want the screaming sound, jus throw on an after market intake, an there u go, u got urself a fog-horn...now don't get me wrong, i have strong distaste for the new si's (they really do look like a runty mini-van) an beating a 99-00 si, stock for stock, isn't much of a feat. those cars IMO are WAY over-rated an they aren't exactly a tough car to beat. the new k-series motors seem to like bolt-ons, so that is a plus, but still...i say if u want a k-motor, or something new, get an RSX or something of the sort.

What i meant by the almighty b16 is its the most known and most popular to people.....Well the way i see it is 99-00 si civics are better when it comes to peformance and modifications 99-00 all the way ill be suprised if they make things for the newer si's besides the i/h/e which i dont think they make headers yet all im saying for price difference id go with older si civics its more worth it..

THE 99-00 is 3yrs old now. let's see what the k does in three yrs.

i highly doubt that honda made a car worse then it's predacessors.
i bet the 03si beats the 00si in all benchmarks.

Thats coo and all but i look at it as when the 00 si came out stock it would beat the 03 si stock but mabe in a few years they will be able to beat the older model dohc vtecs but we'll ssee how things go with that.....I guess its everyones diff. opinions cause im not too impressed with the newer si's and i did want one really bad but I need the boost of vtec and not what the new si's put out....i must say though the RSX S kicks out the vtec and you can feel it in those....to be a k motor

The honda civic SI is a great car. As far as the aftermarket possibilities go, the new Si will be unbelievable. There are already 2 turbo kits available both 240 hp+ to the wheels. CyberNations has a turbo on the RSX that is pushing more than 430hp and more than 300tq to the wheels. The possibilities for the new K series motors are great. Another 1 to 1 1/2 years the new SI will far surpass any others in my opinion. As far as not feeling the vtec kick in, it is a completly new system that instead of giving a sudden burst of power is spread evenly across the entire powerband giving it a smoother more effecient acceleration.

But anyway, yes, the k series motor is becoming very promising. With only 7lbs of boost cybernation was able to get almost 100whp more...not bad:

I'm satisfied with my car... but i'm doing lotz of mods to it for better performance.
For real... this car is too expensive for its size but whatever... even after 1 year on the road... it turns heads all the time!

I liked my '02 si... but had to trade it in for an Element... i think the Si is definitely under-rated.

Just got my 2003 civic si, can ya'll help me out by telling me some stuff to add to make it faster without having my parents know im doing it, like stuff to the engine and all.

uh...w/ out parents knowing? cuz that's gonna be tough. simple i/h/e set-up is great for the k20 series motor's tho...so i'd consider maybe ASKING them if u could jus do those simple bolt's.

i'd do research on the k-series engine to see what's available....it'll be a while b4 they're up in the ranks of the almighty "B"...but as far as ur suspension and what not...there should be plenty of info and pricing floating around

My 02 SI will do a quarter mile 11sec with my t3turbo - boots set at 15 - definately a phatty car -

wow how much did the turbo for your car cost, i bet it was a lotta $ to instal it too

sorry i dont think white emblems are rice... they are a small thing that i think is better then having stock emblems. Altezzas are all rice i think most ppl agree.

maybe so, but the guy didn't ask u for his opinion. simply places to find the tail lights. if he CHOOSES to spend HIS money on altezza's, then more power to him. its jus like some ppl would think ur white emblems are rice, but does it really matter wut they think? no...because it was UR money that U spent on them. its a pointless arguement to have over the internet guys...

what the hell does that have to do with anything at all???
personally i am digging the looks of the new si over the past ones all the way it actually has some style put into it. the tail lights are really cool looking. and the body has great lines and shape to it. my biggest gripe would be the headlights being too big. but even those are starting to grow on me. i would take one over a 99-00 right now if i had the money.

both your cars are ugly!!!! get over it. j/k i don't particularly like the 02 si's body but i didn't like the 02 civics at all at one point but they are starting to grow on me. i really just don't like how the nose is just sloped down so much. and the headlights are less than attractive but the interior rocks so. have heard great things about the k series also

im not hating on people who can buy a new car, i would want a new car if i could get one just wouldent be the 03 si, having an older car means problems yes but that also is a part of the fun of having a car to fix it myself, and i dont hate on new cars or think mine is the best cuz i would love to have a 5th or 6th gen hatch

they respond pretty good to turbos. one guy on ephatch.com got 262whp and 208 in torque with his turbo at 7.5lbs of boost

I've been driving my '02 si for about 3 weeks now.

I didn't love the outside when I first got it, but the inside is where I sit. It's super fun to drive, it's the fastest civic they've made so far, and the interior is awesome.

If I had a garage full of tools (or just a garage, for that matter) I'd enjoy a car that needed work once in awhile. But apartment living doesn't lend itself well to that, so I'd rather just be confident that it's going to start every time I turn the key.


The looks are really growing on me. I like it more every time I look at it.
