Hi there!!! have you checked the crank sensor??? one's time the mine was disajusted and one screw lose, you can that first, you can removed that sensor, safety first, conect the sensor, put you ignition in on position, dont star it, pass some metal shim betwen the gap on the sensor, you can ear it the high voltaje flowing from the dis to the sparkplug. See you!!!

Likely the cause. It was for my '87. Would be fine except when warm, then finally it gave up the ghost. In the '87, the hall effect sensor is in the distributor housing, composed of two pieces, one that rotates, the other that is stationary.
First time I had it repaired. Cost me $400! Happened at about six years old.
Second time I did it myself. Happened about year sixteen (ten years between fixes). Total cost was $18 for one piece and $28 for the second. Plus pizza and beer for a friend that helped me out for moral support.

Hall effect sensor is likely cause.
In my '87, hall effect sensor is two piece unit, first time I had it replaced to the tune of $400, last time I replaced for $18 + $28 + pizza and beer for a buddy that provided moral support.
The sensor is in the distributor on the '87.
