Noises when cooling

I am a proud owner of a Bora 1600 automatic. Recently I have noticed that after a trip when standing there are a lot of metallic noises. Like metals cooling down after heat expansion. They appear to be coming from the bottom of the engine and exhaust. Is this normal? Could this be a problem that is developing.
