1994 chevy s10 blazer codes 83

here is the symtoms my friend said he was going down the road and the truck started to sputter like it was running out of gas but the gas gauge said it had a 1/4 of a tank so he started to pull of to the side of the road and as he got to the shoulder it shut off he no power to nething. he waited a couple of secounds and it fired right back up and he brought it to my house i put the scanner on it and it gave me code 83. in the scanners book code 83-Torque converter Clutch (TCC) Solenoid-circuit problems. OR Reverse Inhibit-open or short circuit in reverse inhibit soleniod coil. NE suggestions? dont really want to do sumthing and hav stuff apart and it b sumthing else bc he needs the truck back asap for work.:eek7:
