hello all, i have the chance at buying a 95 tsi that was told suffers from crank walk. i dont want to go out and toss tons of money into a crate/short block if i dont have to, and wondered what would i need to put in a 7 bolt 4g64 crank. is this possible without shaving some block down? i dont mind gettin it machined and what not, plus car has a zoom 2100 lb clutch, not worried about the extra torque one bit. please respond quick!!!

Not sure about the 4g64 seven-bolt crank.

But replacing the 4g63 7-bolt with a 4g63 6-bolt is super easy and pretty cheap. You can find a crate motor for around $800 in great shape.

Honestly dude, if you dont want to dump tons of money into something then you shouldnt be buying something that needs work.

And there's nothing wrong with that as long as you know and accept it. Truer words were never spoken in relations to DSM's:

Fast. Cheap. Reliable. Pick two.

To answer your question, to put the 4g64 crank in you will need aftermarket pistons that move the wrist pin up 6mm to account for the extra stroke, which will run you ~$450 or so minimum. I do believe there is a little clearancing needed to make it work, but if your aim is to keep it cheap then I dont think a stroker setup is something you should do.
