Hi, I have a 2002 grand am, for the past year the abs, trac off, and service vehicle soon light has been on. I heard that it is the wheel bearing hub assembly, I was also told that the sensor in the wheel bearing are prone to having ground problems and the sensor goes off prematurely, cause the lights to go on with no actual problem. There is no howl coming from the bearings itself. There is also no play in the front end indicating that the bearing may be faulty. Recently however the ebrake light itself will come on and stay on after about a mile or two of driving, when this happens the cruise control does not work. I was wondering what is potentially causing the ebrake light to come on? If i do change the the wheel bearings in the front will this fix all my problems, or are the abs/trac/service and the ebrake light on for completely different reasons. The manual says that when the brake light comes on it is because the brakes are a 2 part system and one of the parts may be faulty but i could still potentially have brakes. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You need to check for codes first. Many parts stores will scan the codes for free.
Check the brake fluid level, if it is low it will also make the light come on. If it is low, have the system checked for leaks as well as for brake pad wear.
No matter how bad the hub assemblies are, they will not cause the regular brake light to come on. (only the ABS light)

I had the problem with ABS light coming on constantly on my 99 Grand Am. Right rear tail light assembly had a short. Tail light was constantly going out. Tracer was defective in assembly. Somehow the rear lights are tied in with the ABS light also. This fixed mine.

These tail lights are a problem due to leaks around the seal. I siliconed mine around the perimeter seal , making sure the clips are engauged and tight, and they've stayed dry ever since.
Also high quality scan tool(such as the Tech II) would have identified the tail light circuit with a "U" or "B" dtc . :2cents:
