95 Cavaliar 2.2 l OHV vin 4 117,000 miles, I need the location of the sensor that controls the kicking on of the cooling fan. I ran 12 volts to the fan and the cooling fan motor is working. I know theres a sensor that controls fan but I cant remember where its located. The Relays are all working fine. I think it's called the tempeture switch. I'd appreciate any help locating it so I can replace it!

Billyboy, Billyboy..... Here is my advice, take it or leave it. If you plan to do your own repairs always buy a Repair Manual for that vehicle. If you had one, you would have already found the location of the CTS (coolant temperature sensor), that reads engine temperature and provided informaton to the ECU to control the engine. Haynes sells one for about 20 US dollars. Another place to find information about repairs is AutoZone.com.

On your 1995 Chevrolet Cavalier 2.2L SFI OHV , the Coolant Temperature Sensor is located:
Under hood, driver side, upper engine area, below valve cover, mounted in cylinder head.

Thank you for the information Helmuth. I do have the Haynes repair manual for the car , and I couldnt find anything regarding the location of the sensor, but I did find it using the Autozone parts locator. I appreciate your help.

Billyboy....good show Chap !!!! You are smart than the average Yank !!!!

Good Luck on the repair..... Oh...that sensor can be check with a ScanTool....may be cheaper than replacing it, only to find out it may be the ECU or still the relay.
