There shouldn't be tire noise from the rear; size of the car has nothing to do with it.
What kind of noise?
Squeeling?
Rumbling?
Does it coincide with manouvering?

First thing I'd do is check tire pressures and maybe go about checking the alignment.

No rubbing ,bearing or turnig noise..No shimies or shakes and dont wander, let go of the wheel and goes right down the road. Just plain ol tire noise, just like a 4 wheel drive with like the gripper tires going by.. Makes more noise on asphalt than cement.. Dont really hear it till about like 35mph and faster. The tires on this right now are the right size but are Cooper Tires.. Dont hear it too bad with the windows down. But put them up and hear the road..I have heard tho that certain makes of tires have more noise and some quiet..

Brand of tyres certainly do make different levels of noise.
Are they the original tyres for the car (i.e ones that come fitted from factory)?

Not sure if they're the same in the US but my regular 5 door 1999 Yaris hatchback came on Bridgestones and the ones fitted recently by a third party garage do seem noisier than before.
