When is the race?

I'm only going to cover hardware that may help. Nothing of racing technique, reaction times, staging and launching. :grinno:

Get rid of any excess weight. Remove the spare tire and tire changing equipment and anything else not needed in the trunk. Another suggestion is to remove the rear passenger seat both lower and upper cushions. Run the fuel in the gas tank down below 1/4 tank or less. Gasoline weighs about 7 lbs per gallon.

Remove the driver's side headlight assembly so you get better airflow into the high pressure area for the intake system and CAI/FWI, if installed.

Remove the ABS fuse so traction control does not engage. Some people just turn off traction control but that does not preclude it from engaging when it decides to since the GTP has a full range traction control system. You should get better times with traction control off or inhibited. The conventional braking system will work fine with the ABS fuse pulled.

Drop front tire pressure down to 20-22 lbs.

the race is this friday.ive already removed the spare tire and things.i weighed my backseats today that was right at 35 pounds,so theyll be removed.now for the fuse thing i just pull the fuse thats for the abs right? i thought just turning traction control off would work thanks for that.ive got 1/2 a tank now by the time i pick my gf up and go there ill be down pretty low,ill have enough to race and make it to the gas station and it has 93 octane shell in it.would you suggest putting some octane booster in? or is it better off just 93 shell? ive been practicing launches on a very tary road near by to get my launches down. my reaction times are usually anywhere from .005 .008 when i had my camaro idk about with this car though.and thanks for anymore tips you guys have.

Octane booster? No. Won't do any good plus you're able to get 93 octane premium unleaded.

Big difference between the ole Camaro with rear wheel drive versus FWD. Just practice some more with your GTP.

Wonder if the engine mount stiffening "free mod" from the ZZP tech articles will help him get better launches.....

What do you think Bob?

Possible Tim. :dunno:

Biggest issue launching with a GTP whether stock or modded is getting traction and limiting wheelspin especially at a track. Getting a good holeshot and without red lighting. One factor overlooked are tires. Good quality hp tires are an important factor. When I race at the strip I put on the good ole Nitto drag radials. And reduce tire pressure to around 20 psi. And trust me I need them.
