I have replaced the MAF, EGR, and oxy. sensor after getting bad codes. I also replaced the cat. conv. after advise from others when there was no accelleration. I am now getting bad codes on the MAF again. Codes 157 & 158 (voltage too low & voltage too high). Car still runs like crap. It idles ok but bogs badly under load and won't accellerate. Any ideas?

Have you checked fuel pressure? Changed the fuel filter? Air cleaner?Cap and rotor?

I had a shorted plug wire that sounded like that. Idled good but under a load would cut out. I don't think that would explain the codes though.

Disconnect the negative battery terminal for 10 minutes. This will do 2 things: 1. reset the check engine light 2. Allow the computer to relearn the modifications of your car.

Anytime squirrely things happen on one of these cars, I always suspect bad ground connections. Mine had several wires connected at the negative terminal on the battery - and they were corroded. I replaced the ground cable to the body & engine block, and soldered to the same spot each of the 3 or 4 wires that had been connected to the negative battery terminal. It solved the problems I was having - of unreliable Check Engine Light cmoing on, and of the temperature gauge reading too high.

Was the MAF new? if not did you clean the element? You can clean it using brake cleaner (don't use carb cleaner, it leaves residue on the element). that may help that code.
